This Privacy Policy explains how MenMyParents (“we”, “us”, “our”), operating the mobile application and website at menmyparents.com, collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects your personal data. It is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India.
1. Who we are
MenMyParents is a parent-child safety and emotional connection app designed for Indian families. We provide daily check-ins, wellbeing tracking, voice memory recording, food-photo sharing, and a shared family calendar.
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, MenMyParents is the Data Fiduciary. You are the Data Principal.
2. Data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:
Account data
- Phone number (for parent OTP sign-in) or email address (for Google sign-in by the adult child)
- Display name and user role (Parent or Child)
Usage data you create
- Voice recordings you choose to save in Maa Ki Awaaz
- Food photos you choose to share in Aaj Kya Khaya
- Daily check-in and wellbeing tap timestamps
- Calendar events you add (festivals, birthdays)
Technical data
- Device push-notification token (FCM)
- App version, OS version, crash logs for diagnostics
We do not collect: location data, contact lists, SMS, call logs, or browsing history.
3. How we use your data
- To authenticate you and link you to your family group
- To deliver daily check-in reminders and wellbeing alerts
- To store and play back your voice memories and photos
- To send push notifications about family activity
- To generate weekly voice prompts using the Claude API (content is sent for transcription and prompt generation, not retained by the AI provider for training)
- To transcribe voice recordings using OpenAI Whisper API (English only, transcripts retained with the recording)
- To process your ₹199/month Maa Shield subscription through Google Play Billing
4. Legal basis for processing (DPDP Act)
We process your personal data based on your explicit consent, which you provide on first launch of the app. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account from the Settings screen; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing done before withdrawal.
5. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Authentication, Cloud Messaging). Firebase data centres serving this app are located in Asia (asia-south1, Mumbai) where available.
We apply reasonable security practices under Rule 8 of the SPDI Rules, 2011:
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher
- All data at rest is encrypted by Google Cloud
- Access is restricted to authenticated family members via Firestore security rules
- Voice files are compressed and stored only within your family's private folder
6. Data retention
- Voice memories: retained for as long as your account is active (intended to be permanent family archive)
- Food photos: automatically deleted after 30 days
- Check-in timestamps: retained for the duration of your account
- Account data: deleted permanently within 30 days of account-deletion request
7. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the app:
- Google Firebase — hosting, database, storage, authentication, push notifications
- Anthropic (Claude API) — generating weekly voice prompts
- OpenAI (Whisper API) — transcribing voice recordings
- Google Play Billing — subscription payment processing
We do not share your data with advertisers or marketers.
8. Your rights as a Data Principal
Under the DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of personal data we process about you
- Correct, complete, update, or erase your personal data
- Withdraw consent and have your data deleted
- Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity

9. Children's data
The app is intended for adult children (18+) and their parents. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact our Grievance Officer.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app and the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
